Why choose Herbal alternatives
I was looking for alternatives to prescription medicines that had negative side effects or did not work well with my current medication. This book gives me choices and things to try. My family physician recommends vitamins and supplements. The information in this book can help me and my physician make an informed decision. It is hard when you have multiple conditions(illnesses) where you can't take just any medication. Sometimes you don't want the side effects from a prescription medicine however, you can't always just try any thing with out knowing the consequences. This is a good book for education yourself and your doctor on alternatives. I like the fact that this book contain lots of information on different illnesses or condition. I purchased this book from ebay to say on the cost from the local book store and I am glad I did.Read full review

The Herbal Drugstore
I really LOVE this book, and I have a lot of books on herbal medicine. What I like about the herbal drugstore is how it gives both the typical prescription drugs for common ailments, and the herbal alternatives. It also describes how the herbs are supposed to work (if it is known.) That alone sets this book apart from most other herbal references. This would be a terrific first book on the subject for anyone's home library and I think it adds a lot to my shelf on herbs. There are good drawings of the herbs, sections on vitamins, excercises, nutrition, combining herbs with prescription medicines (some can interfere; tell your physician) and much more. Yet the book has a very well-designed format, clear print, good organization and is chatty and readable. What more could you ask for? If I could give this book 10 stars, I would.
