SynopsisDrug shipments out of Central and South America were a common and rapidly increasing event along I-15 in Southern Utah. Cartel captains of Central and South America, such as Pablo Escobar, in Colombia, along with drug lords in cities of central and eastern U.S., were raking in millions of dollars. Little was being done to stop the flow of narcotics through Utah's Dixie until UHP Trooper Barney Jeppson, an eight-year veteran of the U.S. Marines and relatively new to the locale, brought with him the drive and expertise to generate an impressive arrest record. Other troopers, veteran Dan Wilde and the youthful Aaron Gentry became eager to learn from Barney. Despite differing opinions among UHP brass, up north, the three officers became increasingly effective. After becoming alarmed at the substantial loss of "narcodollars," drug kingpin, Percival "Rube" Rubinski, with help from Las Vegas contacts, hired a couple of Nevada parolees to monitor drug shipments in a last-ditch effort to reduce the losses. Bad idea! The troopers were quickly able to see through the tactics of the two inept ex-cons, Brody Conway and Floyd Barker. The pair of dimwits even attempted intimidation tactics, hoping to put a stop to the increasingly effective drug interdiction to no avail. Rube became painfully aware of their absurd stratagem and realized his flagrant mistake. There was but one way to resolve the problem! The authentic portrayal of drug interdiction practices adds a great deal of interest to this engaging novel.
