This is one of the toughest, most durable, and easy to sharpen camp, combat, survival type knife you will find. There are many video's available about torture testing and the knife comes through every time. I like to strip the black coating from BK knives and use vaseline for rust prevention. The handle is fine despite what many so-called experts say. The sheath is also very serviceable. I sling mine in a shoulder rig or strap it to my pack. I also like the BK9 very much which is even bigger!

Purchased this knife and wanted to strip the black coating and polish the blade to resist rusting, this particular knife after stripping had very deep machine marks left on the blade, despite multiple hours of sanding the lines remain, it's like they didnt care to finish the blade because they knew the black coating would cover the deep machine marks, I hate coated knives it causes friction and impedes chopping ability, the older knives were not like this in the videos I watched online, I was planning on getting a bk9 also and strip it too but not now, very disappointed.

Really, it would be better if they just didn't send the sheath at all. It's a waist. The knife is a perfect design, made with good steel and a great value for anyone wanting high quality, but doesn't want to shell out $300-$400. I am very satisfied with the performance of the blade, but using the included sheath is like putting whitewall tires on a Ferrari. It just isn't meant to be.

This is a fantastic knife, extremely well made and has a wonderful grip The edge is very sharp from the factory. There are a lot of cool things you can do to this knife to personalize it as well. I bought a set of those Becker tan micarta grips and dyed them, then shellacked them. I also did a forced patina to my BK7 and gave it a tiger stripe finish.
