The petcock's (that's the thing that turns the gas on and off) on the 700 have a built in filter. The fuel is always on however and the settings are pri, on and res. The pri is for when you start the bike as it will have a constant flow of gas without the vacuum feature and of course the reserve is what it is. There is NO filter on this machine. Not saying you can't put one in line in the event the built in one on the petcock disintegrates (like ours) however, if it got to that point, you whole unit will be leaking and looking for an update exchange or rebuild. (good luck waiting for replacements from China/Japan though). Installing a filter anyway in the event the petcock disintegrates as an extra layer and easy to see if it needs changing. I'll install a "smaller" filter from a lawn mower type as this one is pretty bulk for under the tank.Read full review
