Dorman makes a lot of hard to find parts on these older Ford Ranger pickup trucks at very reasonable prices. I’m glad Dorman makes them, since they are obsolete from Ford.

Bought an old truck, no idea how many owners prior to me, but as you can expect things have been done by those owners that end up creating problems if you don't take care of them. such was the case with the battery hold down clamp. Here is a reasonably new battery bouncing around loose in the battery tray, a recipe for premature failure. So I found this clamp on eBay which was a bargain compared to the cost of a battery, ordered it, came really quick and fit perfectly.

Excellent battery clamp kit - just like factory on my old Ford truck. But, batteries have changed a little and the factory design doesn’t totally immobilize the battery. May be a good idea to drill a couple holes on each side of the battery pan and get the old top bracket with the long hook bolts to hold the battery down.

Due to cold weather my truck battery died, so cold that the bold holding the battery hold down broke, so had to bust the plastic clamp out with a hammer. Got the bolt out, salvage yard didn't have one, so eBay to the rescue. Comes with a long bolt or short, I used the long bolt and worked great.

It just works like the factory piece that I was missing. On my case it's on 1999 Ford E-150 V8, use the short screw, long one apparently doesn't have the same thread pitch as the factory screw.
