I purchased this to replace the cassette I had in basic training at Fort Gordon, GA in 1980 that I listened to in my boom box on post. Still great music after all these years.

The CD it's self is in perfect condition. Jewel case was cracked however I have extras and they are cheap. The important part is no scratches and plays great.

Queen's Fifth Studio album, released Oct 28th 1977 is by far one of their best. This is the album that brought us "We Will Rock You", and "We Are the Champions"; Two of the band's most recognized songs of all time. Without this album, sporting events EVERYWHERE on the planet would be rather boring! Moving into "Sheer Heart Attack" You get into the more hrd edge that Queen laid down. Brian May's Guitar work has always been one of my favorite things to listen to. Add that godly fretboard mastery with Freddie's Vocals, and you are down for the count after that one-two punch! Things slow down a bit for "All Dead, All Dead", and Freddie shows off more of his outstanding vocal work. A lot of people have some rather insulting things to say about the man, but the guy could sing his ass off! Moving into "Spread Your Wings" You come to realize just how much of a fine tuned Musical machine the band is. Jon Deacon laying down a nice smooth Bass-line, with Roger Taylor keeping the pace, and Brian may wailing on the six stringed piece of Fireplace wood through a Vox AC30 set... Beautiful. Add Freddie's Golden Voice, and the song will bring you to tears. "Fight From The Inside" is yet another powerful tune. They show no sign of letting their grip on the listener slip! "Get down, Make Love"... THIS is what was playing at make-out point wasn't it? ;-) I can imagine that several of those in my generation were sired to this song. :-D Then we get to my FAVORITE song on this Album: "Sleeping On the Sidewalk". Brian may Shows off his Blues Guitar chops, and belts out the vocals for this masterpiece. Brian's Voice sounds a lot like Mark Knopfler from Dire Straits, mixed with a little Billy Gibbons of ZZ-Top. When I have the blues, This is one of the sons that I listen to. It puts things into perspective, and I end up feeling much better! "Who Needs You" reminds me a lot of an Early Grateful Dead piece. It's something in the vocals and pacing. Mix that with some classical Spanish style guitar work, and mellow bass and drum lines. Pure Gold! Next up is another favorite of Mine: "It's Late" This is the very first Queen Song That I ever Heard, and the first one that I learned on guitar. I love everything about this song, and Freddie shows that he can completely overpower a lead guitarist vocally in this tune. Very inspirational, and filled to the brim with Queen style! Falsetto Voicing by Roger Taylor on Chorus Vocals and all! This song is one of the first I play to demonstrate Brian May's Signature sound on the guitar tracks. "My Melancholy Blues" Is yet another song where Freddie shows off his songwriting and Vocal talents. I'll say it again. THAT GUY COULD SING! This version also has a Remixed version of "We Will Rock You" that I really don't care for at all. But it is still nice to have as an extra. I would recommend trying to find this Album on LP, or 8 Track though, as it has a bit more warmth than the CD. The Remastered Version requires a bit of tweaking on the EQ to get the CD to sound right. Even then, it is still just a bit off. I suppose it is good that it has been preserved digitally. However, I prefer to hear this particular album on LP. Something about Tube Amplifiers and Vinyl just sets the tone. All in all, the Remastered CD is quite good, and I would HIGHLY recommend that Rock fans pick this gem up, post-haste! 5 Stars! R.I.P. Freddie! We love you mate! I dedicate my next pint to you!Read full review
Early Queen music at it's finiest. I enjoy listening in the original album order. Many great songs here, not found on greatest hits!

I have a special place in my collection for this full length Queen cd. I used to have this on 8-track, and decided to get my hands on a digitally remastered copy. The songs are not your usual radio play tracks, with the exception of "We will rock you and "We are the champions". Most of the songs show Queens wide range of musical abilities, from soft piano ballads like "All dead, all dead" to hard rock punk rock songs like "Sheer heart attack" direct from the 70's. This album is pretty diverse as far as the music styles go, and it gives "News of the world" an interesting mix of styles that may or may not be what you are looking for. I enjoy this as I listen to the digitally remastered tracks that bring me back to a place when 8-tracks ruled, and records were the best possible sound quality that a young boy could get his hands on.Read full review

I bought the News Of The World album issued by the Hollywood Records, because this version slightly differs to the European edition. I'm a Queen's fan, and American editions are rather difficult to find in Europe where I live. The differences: folded front cover, different back cover (a detail of an original artwork), and one additional song, a remix of We Will Rock You. The edition in general is worse than European or Japan versions and is interesting only because of its differences. Overall, I'd recommend this CD for non-american collectors just for fun. Music is not an object of this review since Queen is my favorite rock group.
Excellent album all the way through with the exception of the remake of we will rock you, the last track, but with the original, and others it's worth getting. Even the remake rocks, it's just not the original which is on the album too
