i've used this on several guitars now over the years, and the results are always astounding. really easy to use. i recommend mixing it with a higher proportion of denatured alcohol ... i like 50/50 or so with warm water when mixing. it dissolves easily, and makes a great consistency that way. i use a soft clean t-shirt rag to apply it, and work it in. the effects can be positively stunning. its super easy to mix and use and the finishes you can achieve will blow your mind. it works well on the usual mahogany and maple, and most other woods. only mix a little more than you need, as it does NOT keep very long, tho the alcohol can make it last longer. be careful and dispose of used rags properly when using any kind of finish like this. all in all a stellar product. 10 stars, all the way.

Very easy to use, following well written directions. I used this product for a diy guitar project, and it has turned out even better than I had hoped. The dye penetrated into the wood grain so it did not cover the wood, but it enhanced the grain making a truly beutiful piece. Will most likely use this again on other projects, although I still have more than enough for several applications. This concentrate really does go a long, long way! I absolutely recommend this product!

These are some of the best dyes I have used. Really great rich saturated colors as described. I would recommend using hot water instead of the denatured alcohol solvent. It worked better for me and it penetrated better into the wood than the alcohol solvent I spent money on. I also advise that if you use the black, make a very concentrated color or add several coats of it. It has this slight tint of purple and does not look well left without a finish. But as soon as you apply the finish it should look great all nice and dark.

I never used wood dye before. Purchasing this kit gave me the opportunity to experiment with wood dye without spending a lot of money. I needed to test the dye to determine how it would appear on a wood sample (before applying the dye to my project). After mixing one of the colors with water, I applied the mixture to a piece of wood veneer that matched the wood on my project. I discovered that the water had a damaging effect on the wood. This valuable experience was well worth the cost of the kit. It saved my project from ruin. However, the dye is packed in envelopes (probably to make the kit compact for easy shipping). Therefore, accessing small amounts of the dye from the envelopes is very difficult. That's why I didn't give this product five stars.

Try your hardest to follow the directions, even if they seem as confusing to you as they seemed to me. Make sure if you are using alcohol as your solvent, to still start with a little warm water to fully dissolve the pigment. I had trouble getting the yellow to integrate with blue because I skipped this part, but YOU can learn from my mistake and be a better human for it! I sure would like to find better containers for the powdered dyes though. The little plastic baggies are not ideal for storing them in. It's a good thing this stain works so beautifully.
