The Xuron microshear is made in America. It is unique i...n that the handles and blades are made from stamped steel. The blades are induction hardened, then precision ground. The blades have a shearing action instead of a crushing action. This makes for a better, cleaner, smoother cut with less force. For longer life, use on smaller gauge wire, e.g. 22 gauge smaller soft drawn copper wire.

These t...ools are excellent for cutting thin copper wire. I use this particular tool for electronics projects. I do NOT recommend trying to use these cutters for cutting steel wire. Specifically, don't try to use them to trim off excess wire from your guitar or banjo. The cutting edges of these Xuron "microshear" cutters become "nicked" when you do this, even with very thin gauge steel wire. I suspect that similar damage would occur from attempts to cut stainless steel wire.

I bought it to replace an old ...one that I broke. The jaws of the new one do not meet on the sharp edges. They do not make as accurate of a cut as the old ones. Each carried the same trade name and part number. the new one just is not manufactured as accurately.

For the price and quality, I was expecting something at... least somewhat mediocre at best. What I got far exceeded my expectations -- These flush cutters are sharp and they get the job done! It all depends what you plan to use these for. For cutting plastic and wires, these do a fantastic job. But I wouldn't rely on these for cutting much tougher things. They're very useful for smaller projects and if that's what you want them for, then you will not be disappointed.
