    Better than Pyle

My previous pre amp, a Pyle PP444, developed a dead channel out of the blue. After opening it up and finding terrible solder joints and a dinky stereo IC amplifier, I decided to spend a little more and get this Bozak Madison unit. This puts out a hotter signal by far and feels better built, despite the cheap wall wart adapter that comes with it. I say if you're on a budget, spend the extra $5 (as of writing) and get this unit.

    Arrived broken

When my pre-amp arrived, it was broken, working only on the left stereo channel. I opened up the box to see if i could fix it-- it turned out to be an easy repair, I simply had to re-solder a connection. After it was fixed, the device worked wonderfully. That said, I shouldn't expect to have to repair a new device before using it, so I can't recommend this product.

  • Simple solution to play records on an amp with no input for "phono".

First I'm not an audiophile, but I do like good sound. Years back my records went into storage because my new amplifier was a home theater type with no input for phono. I recently decided to find a way to play records again and this unit was the answer. I use the input for a tape deck and it works just fine. There is no adjustment for the sound level on this mini amp but it seems to not need one. The volume level does not need significant or any adjustment when I move from playing CD's to a record. No hum, or distortion, at least none that I can hear or notice. It's just nice to be able to play my records again on a decent stereo. If you have spent a thousand dollars on your stereo this amp might not meet your standards, but I'd suggest you try it out and see. My guess is it would do the job.

  • This is your answer to your LP problem.

Amazing!! This little box fixes ALL my issues with my Kenwood 3070-JVC ("POS") receiver. The phono stage input made a deal whenever I turned it up over 4 bars, had a constant him & basically sucked. Connected this - All him gone! Cranked it up with no hum or distortion. Totally clean!! I can also run through my EQ now as well and crisp up the sound to CD quality. Don't waste $ on the 'bells & whistles' box at $70++ This works GREAT!! Highly recommend ☺️☺️☺️

  • When you have a wonderful piece of stereo gear that doesn't have phono input you need this thing!

I have a Yamaha stereo receiver that doesn't have phono level input. I need this item so that the phono level output from the stylus can be a line level input for the receiver. I've found this does a fine job of doing this job. There is an issue of not having the amount of inputs on the receiver however and I have to work on that!

  • Great for beginners or older turntables

I bought based on good reviews I’ve read and about a it’s newer version. I think sounds better than it’s price suggests. I use older Garrard record player with it and I think it sounds very nice. It’s also very flat so I can just hide or hang it behind and not have something else laying around.

  • Just Fine For My Millennial Daughter!!

I bought this phono pre-amp to use in my daughter's little audio set up. It does what it's supposed to do. I am an audiophile and I personally think the sound quality it emits is poor BUT it's my Millennial daughter's set up and she is just fine with it!! If you need something like this phono pre-amp in a pinch, purchase one by all means!! I'd buy something much more sophisticated than this phono pre-amp if you're looking for a much better audio sound.

  • Perfect low cost RIAA Phono Preamp!

Made well, quiet, and sounds really good! Much better than the Pyle and most all the Chinese-made phono preamps. Good quality components. Made similar to the 1977 Texas Instruments phono circuit that was widely used in the 1970s-Early 1980s receivers. Has a wide, detailed sound, not small and compressed sound like the Pyle and Chinese copies. Output volume is the same as my Sony STR-V4 preamp from 1978. This little preamp is hard to beat on anything less than $150. And, if you’re handy with a soldering iron, this unit is very easily customized for your use. Best sub-$50 phono preamp I’ve used, out of the last 15 I’ve tried that’s fully assembled.

  • Excellent value for a time-tested design.

This type of pre-amp for magnetic cartridges has been around forever, but does an excellent job. Quiet and hum-free, it is a great design and seems well built with a metal case.
