So I'm big dude with big meaty mitts. Like, I wear at least an XXL glove, because XL is too small. I also write and record a lot of my own music, doing all of the instrumentation. I play a laundry list of instruments. Well, since I have been primarily playing guitar for so long, my big meaty mitts have gotten used to the scale of my les paul. So naturally, when I go to record bass parts, my fender p-bass was comparatively more spread out, and i would lose a lot of speed because I wasn't as used to playing the longer scale as I was the guitar. So, I had a daring idea - what if i buy a bass guitar that has close to the same scale as the electric guitar? At this price, how could I go wrong? worst case scenario, I hate it and return it. So I ordered the guitar and the gig bag, and waited. The gig bag showed up first, and man was I nervous. As I was holding the gig bag i'm thinking, 'this thing is going to be way too small for me. but the site says it has a 28" scale, which is 3" more than a standard guitar. I guess I'll just have to wait till it gets here.' It arrived, and the scale was 28 inches, just like the site says. The frets are just a bit more spread out than a guitar's frets. And the whole item is about the size of a les paul. I don't look any more ridiculous holding this bass than I do my LP. The tone is great, not lots of hum in the electronics, and it was reasonably well set up out of the box. The nut was filed correctly, and the action was set correctly out of the box. I didn't like the neck relief so I adjusted the truss rod and readjusted the action to compensate, and after that, playability was top notch. The fretboard was pretty straight. I had to adjust intonation on all four strings, I don't think they set that from factory. But that was really my only mark against their QC. But all in all, it was still a great value for the price. And for those of you with larger hands who wonder whether this will be a bad buy, let me tell you, it is very comfortable to play for a guy with XXL hands who spends most of his time playing regular scale guitars. To be honest, it's made me start to question why they even make full-scale basses. You won't be disappointed.Read full review

I have been a bass player for 30 years. I was happy that my 13 year old daughter wanted to take up the instrument. She learned Ukelele well enough that I was willing to listen but no way was she using my basses because I see how she takes care of her room. Her arms were too small anyway so I researched this Ibanez mikrobass. What a delight! The walnut finish is fantastic and the tone when unplugged is tremendous. Plugged in, it was a little clackety-clack and the tone knob is almost literally nothing so I put daddario XL Flatwounds 50-100 (a recent discovery from which I will never return) and took care of that problem. The tuners seem a little slack when I’m tuning it up. If I were to make a change, it would be the tuners. But they’re fine enough. It is exactly the size of my six string guitars so I was able to devote a quality gig bag that I don’t use much for the cause. My daughter is encouraged by it although she hasn’t quite dug in yet. However if she decides not to play after all, this will remain in my collection. It’s just SO FUN Read full review

Beautiful looks & sound! This is a great value. Perfect for my 7 year old to learn on until he is big enough for a full sized bass. He loves it & plays it daily. Highly recommend!

This is a great sounding bass and the price is pretty unreal! It’s so much more fun than playing a full size bass and the tones it produces are equal to much much more expensive basses. The only thing I’ll say negative is that I ordered the “walnut flat” finish and it looks nothing like the Ibanez stock photo as you can see in my attached photo. This was very disappointing to me as looks are important also. I almost returned it because of this. But once I plugged it in I didn’t care if it was pink with purple polkadots lol. Now maybe the one I got was just off colored and not all are like this? But at any rate I highly recommend this awesome sounding, great playing bass!

Played bass in my teens and 20s and after wife/kid life sold em all. Now years later wanted cheap bass just jam in the house with. This mikro really plays nice, sounds great. In the $300 under club be hard to beat this one.

I read all the reviews. All the negative are completely false. The one I was concerned about was being able to tune it lower. Though it's set up to be played in standard e. It was fine with a little adjusting to be played in c#

I’ve been trying to get my wife a stringed instrument she was comfortable playing for years and this short scale model was perfect. Whether she plays it, remains to be seen but great bang for the buck!

Great little bass. I got it for my wife to learn on.. I also have two young kids and they will have the opportunity to grow into it as well. Feels about like playing a guitar in size and weight but still has a lot of punch through my Rumble 25

Good quality made bass. Nice full sound in such a small size. The only issue is the walnut color. It’s more of a light greenish tint brown than dark walnut brown. Besides that I am satisfied.
