This ceramic rod is a BEAST when you hold it in your hand it feels like a baseball bat and I mean that in a good way. The ceramic rod is really 1 inch in diameter which is fantastic and 9 3/4 inches in length and the BEAST weighs in at 1lb 2oz or 494 gm. This should last a lifetime if you don't drop it. Best ceramic sharpening rod I have ever owned.:-) 20STARS********************:-)

Not made in the USA (of course), and lousy QC in its construction. Ceramic rod is OK but it doesn't fit snugly into the handle. Too little (and poor quality) glue was used, and the hole in the handle is too big for the rod. One of the two I bought almost landed on the floor, and the other was wobbly. If you buy these, plan on going to your local HD or Lowes and get some Gorilla glue that fills the gaps.

If you shop around and get one of these ceramic sharpeners for under $20, it is a great deal. This is a big honking piece of ceramic and a nicely finished oak handle. There is a bit of gap in the handle, but mine has held up so far. I gave the ceramic rod a quick once over with a piece of Emory cloth and it knocked off the roughness and left a nice smooth fine grained sharpener. I don’t mind having to do this to have a good inexpensive sharper and conditioner. I’m very pleased with this and am getting a few more.

This thing is HUGE. It barely fits in a kitchen drawer. However, it is far superior to my old kitchen steel and it is keeping my knives razor sharp with very little effort.

I used it on some of my wife's cutlery in the kitchen work perfectly. Ideal for touching up to get that perfect edge. I've always used a steel to straighten the edge but this is much better.
