Variable Power Supply a good bargain
This 30 volt variable power supply comes with almost everything you will need to build a good supply for the hobbyist. However, it does not come with a large heatsink or fan for the power transistor since these would almost double the cost. It also comes with an output of 24 volts for the fan power supply. since this is non-standard in the U.S. I would recommend replacing the LM7824 Voltage regulator with a LM7812 for use with common cooling fans. A problem arose with the Zener Diodes as the kit puts ALL of the diodes in the package loose. Hard to tell which is zener and which is common 1448's. There are absolutely no instructions with the kit but the board is clearly marked and straight forward. Overall, all project worth the investment.

Cheap but not reliable in my deployment
I ordered 3 kits. All three kits are now malfunctioning after using them for a while. It seems like something burns out them and after that full 30VDC voltage is available on the output, be careful!! E.g. I used my Dremel drill which normally consumes approx. 0.3A @12VDC, but once I turned it on PSU started to give 30VDC. Fortunately my 12VDC Dremel drill didn't burn out although it was spinning high rate until I turned it off. Since no schematic was shipped I don't know how it is working exactly and that makes fixing time more consuming.

Nice bare bones power supply
Although I have a limited amount of use on this dc supply, it seems to work well. I used my own fan and heatsink. Be sure to request the email documentation for the kit as it has helpful information. Biggest issue I had with getting it up and running was finding a transformer that could deliver around 90 watts. I ended up using two 40 watt transformers in parallel. I plan on adding a basic volt and amp meters to the supply.
