Great waterproof camera...so far. I did a lot of research before going with this camera. I used it for one week everyday in Hawaii while on vacation and had no issues including a 17 mile kayaking trip down the Napali coast with the camera tied to my life jacket (the ocean was rough and the ways were splashing on the camera all day long). Time will tell if it stays waterproof, but I took amazing underwater pics of fish and sea turtles! I think most of the issues people have with this camera come from lack of maintenance or improper use. You have to be careful not to get sand in and around the battery seal and make sure the seal is clean everytime you open it. All in all a great underwater camera. P.S. The Nikon floating camera strap is a must if you're going snorkeling!
The camera is the original sport camera. When it was new, the features were top of the line. But now, it's just a sports camera. But the price was right! Takes good pictures. I bought it cause I wanted a camera I could take fishing and not have to worry about getting it wet. This camera fits the bill. For the money, I think it was a bargin!
Lost the last AW over the side of my canoe and needed a new one. this was a great upgrade. Yeah I know, a cell phone will take good video and pictures BUT it is easy to run out of batteries in the bush and it is pretty delicate for the jungles and deserts where I spend time. Right size and great pix and 1080p; so I'm happy. I don't have to lug my pro grea around with me when boating/camping etc. If you only have one camera I'd suggest this one...
I did the best shots underwater and from the ocean. I love this camera. You can take it anywhere in any weather conditions. Only cons is that is not for low light situations. This is a vacations camera. Excellent for water parks and this kind of environments. Very easy to use and lots of scenes to make your pix automatically shine.
I have now owned 3 of these cameras and they are a durable work horse. If you are the kind of person who is not "gentle" with things like your cell phone this is the camera for you. While I do not ever recommend dropping it or banging it into doors on houses I have and it still works. Eventually after about 40 or so drops my last one died and I am getting another one. The zoom is internal so the lens never gets caught on anything and it does fit it a case super easy. Just cant recommend it enough.
