Great machine as long as you know how to set these up. Don't expect to install as from the factory on the first try. Driver disks are available all over ebay, I do recomend it will make the job much easier, but as far as getting all of the security and automatic dell upgrade software on the machine will take 1 out of 100 techs to get it right. Dell used very light aluminum sheet skin rolled for lcd back and with additional parts, epoxied in. Subjective to receiving dents in the fragile lid. Also the lid is subjective to the hinge mounts in the lid becoming loose and allowing the screen to flop back and forth for about 2 inches The great part is that replacement lids as all of the parts are easily found and very reasonable in price. Items to know, all of the lids are different between models. Basically there are 2 different lids available; first an LED RGB Screen with 2 black flat connectors to the screen and then the back lid for a normal LCD screen with only 1 screen connector., also the hinges are different between the M6400 and the M6500. If the lid was a few more mil thick the problem with the lid would go away, I would rate this as a 5/5 star unit. The performance is far superior to any of models in the Dell Line up. With the ease of finding parts online for this model, I'd go as far as stating this is the best all around laptop available from any manufacturer.Read full review
I love these laptops because they are so well designed and are created for great work purposes and have good storage, the only downside is they are a little heavier than usual

Excellent build quality, easy to upgrade and many many upgrades are avail. CPU, ram, video cards etc It is heavy no doubt, but the newest laptops bend, twist and have a "flimsy" feel. This laptop is a tank.

I recently returned a brand new Inspiron 17 b/c of the cheap interfaces (keyboard, touchbad) and the slow computer. But this thing rocks - even though it's from Dec, 2010. Of course, back then it cost $2400 new. I might add that I wanted a 1920x1200 screen (instead of a 1920x1080) b/c I look at stock charts. It makes a huge difference.
