A Powerful Emotional Film
Dalton Trumbo's "Johnny Got His Gun" is a book that when I read it I put it down twice and walked away - because what he described - war and the price Veterans pay - is deeply disturbing. I've never taken a break from a book before like that and haven't since yet I was compelled to finish his book and I am glad I did. years later I came across the film which is directed by the author and he also wrote the screenplay. Timothy Bottoms performance as Joe the main character of the film is stellar. Jason Robards as Joe's father is a proud American who supports Joe's going to war. I've seen literally dozens of war films yet there is no movie like "Johnny Got His Gun". it is disturbing, heart wrenching and beautifully told. it is for me a film I will never forget and I intend to watch it again soon.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
