  • Not entirely what I expected

It's Ryzen! AMD comes swinging out of the red corner and finally offers powerful, more energy efficient processors with higher per-thread performance to compete with Intel! Well, so we hoped. Sure, it IS a lot faster than my FX-8320 and paired with DDR4 memory the performance in games IS noticeable, but... I guess I expected more. This processor runs cooler at 4 GHz on a Corsair Hydro H110i than my FX-8320 did at 4.3 GHz with a 212 EVO, but not as much as you'd expect. It's still a pretty warm chip even though it's only 95w at stock boost speeds compared to the FX-8320 at 125w with a slight O.C. Hopefully with liquid cooling and lower TDP I can get some more thermal headroom over the FX-8320 and explore over-clocking it in the future/after the warranty expires. Multi-core performance is great and I can run two monitors simultaneously, one with a game running and multiple tabs open in Opera on the other with office open (I get bored doing homework, judge me) without any noticeable drop in performance. I don't know about it being the "most powerful 6 core gaming processor" as AMD boasts, but it can multi-task very, very well. I don't know if it was just because it was my "luck of the draw" or what, but my unit arrived with a whole row of bent pins- with a steady hand and a dental pick this was remedied over a painful amount of time (this is why I said it wasn't easy to install). it's been a little over a month and there haven't been any problems as a result of this. All in all, I'm happy.

  • Loving my mew 1600X

This chip is awesome and fast, with the right motherboard you can clock this chip wonderfully. I hightly recommend this to anyone wanting a reasonably inexpensive CPU with overclock capabilities and super performance. I would order this again.

  • Expectations met and surpassed.

First gen? No problem! This will keep purring along until Zen2 comes along and you crave that as well. "Only" 6 cores? Greatest value nevertheless! No heatsink originally provided by AMD? Pfft! Stable temps all around with an itty bitty NH-D9L... (my case only fits that so that's that, go bigger if that's your cup of tea) If installed on a CH6 hero then adjust LLC to L1/instead of auto to make sure, configure core voltage from auto to offset voltage to "-" with 0.1 as reference value to keep voltage ranges below the high 1.4's that are auto conf'd by the mobo and you're gtg. If you're manually OC'ing then do your thing and read the ton of guides that are out there and find your own enlightenment.

  • So far so great

Processor has handled everything I've thrown at it so far. I can run OBS studio and play games without using 35% processing power. Very reliable at stock voltages and keeps very cool. I plan on overclocking and am sure it will have no issues.

  • Best bargain the the Ryzen lineup

I always thought that this CPU was the best bargain in the Ryzen lineup. When the 2000 series came out Microcenter dropped the prices of these. I bought two for 80.00. Serves the majority of the people I deal with very well.

  • Good CPU for a basic upgrade

I was expecting more powerful processing power but the only thing i've noticed improvement in is 1 game. but it is far better than my old Phenom ii x4 945!

  • Worked, but packaging wasn’t very good

Packaging wasn’t any good. Cpu was wrapped in plastic wrap and bouncing in the box. Not cool. Thankfully it worked though, so not terribly upset.

  • Good product but not "New"

The product was described as only taken out of box for picture but you could see thermal paste residue, so this was not new but used. Other than that it works and I have no problems.
