Everything they tell you about the Blackstar Fly 3 is true! Saw several video reviews for this product on YT, all saying this amp is a must-buy, considering its price. And it really sounds awesome! Forget the tinny boxey sound of other small amps. Even of larger size. The clean channel sounds awesome. The in-built Delay offers some spacey sounds, echo or reverb style FX. I didn't like the gain channel as much originally but you can actually dial some nice mid-level overdrive. Basically have the 'gain' knob around 12 o'clock and it sounds very good. I can get some crisp Led Zeppelin type sounds. Nice for Heavy Rock or Classic Rock on the gain channel while arpeggio and picking sound superb on the clean channel with the 'delay' Fx. I like it so much I bought the additional cabinet to double the volume! This amp must be used at full volume most of the time, especially on the clean channel. As for the EQ (even though it's not an EQ in the usual sense) it offers a good range of tone control, from a US amp (Fender type sound) to UK sound (Marshall style). The low volume is a bit frustrating but the quality of the sound that comes out of this little beast is just phenomenal. However I really recommend getting the additional speaker cabinet. Well worth it! I've taken the time to write this review and also one for the Fly 103 additional speaker because I really love this amp. I recommend you give it a try!Read full review

I have had a few mini-amps in my 50 plus years of playing electric guitar. All have suffered from tinny sound. This Blackstar Fly is the best sounding one I have ever used. For such a small amp (about the size of a clock radio) it delivers a remarkable full sound. The extra added bonus of the delay effect is just the icing on the cake. I have already used this little amp in a gig that was all acoustic except for me and it handled itself very well. The good: Just about every thing -price, sound, portability. The bad: Only runs on 6 AA batteries until you by the Blackstar power converter which is about as much as the amp.

I've been looking for an amp to augment my travel guitar. The Blackstar Fly is the best I've found across multiple other options. It has great bass and middle range unlock most of the small tinny amps available. It also offers overdrive and digital delay. At 3 watts it is plenty loud to fill a room. And the Fly 103 makes it even better, offering stereo sound and taking the whole package to 6 watts, enough to stand up to a drum kit at medium volume. I was looking for an amp small enough to fit in a backpack, and got a concert ready device that lets me play clear clean deep acoustic or great electric overdrive leads.

Most people will probably shop the Blackstar Fly 3 for its portability. Truth is, while small enough to fit in a glove box, that's the least of its attributes. Blackstar Fly 3's tone is surprisingly rich. You simply don't expect that level of sound quality out of a 3 watt mini (more like micro) amp. Its delay feature is really cool, too. But, if you're a guitar player, the ability to input your axe, MP3 player and headphones, all at the same time, and play along to your favorite jams (without awaking the house) is what makes the Blackstar Fly 3 a must have. This house now has two of them.

Very good product. Don't be fooled by the "sounds as good as my expensive amp" bunch. It doesn't. But for what it is it is superb. It is a 3 watt amp that has a warm sound. Very lightweight (important to me) and portable (fits in my case). I play mandolin in a small acoustic group and I needed a little volume. This is perfect. The equipment world is changing a lot recently and this is a good step.
