I was a little concerned after reading reviews of hobby level welders in this price range - many complaints about cheap quality and welders that didn't work, but after looking around some I ordered this one because I wanted to be able to weld nickel strips onto my home built battery packs. I also had some concerns about power consumption - that it might need a special outlet with a large breaker on it. But no worries - this welder is just fine for what I am doing (hobby level battery building for electric bikes) it does a good job, and works fine plugged into a normal outlet on a 15 amp circuit breaker. I haven't even tried the soldering attachement because I have a perfectly good soldering Iron, but it probably works fine as well. This is NOT a heavy duty, high spec industrial machine, but it is of acceptable quality and does a good job. I expect that it will work for me for longer than my current hobby lasts. Also, quick shipping and easy set up despite the limited instructions and sketchy translation from Mandarin. If you don't have a little mechanical ability, and already understand what it does and how it works the instructions might be a problem. But if that was the case you probably wouldn't be buying it anyway. The reason that I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is that the hand held welding head relies on adjustment screws that thread into the heavy plastic handles, and the adjustment creeps as you use it - but no big deal. I wedged a sliver of plastic between the 2 legs of the attachement - problem solved.Read full review

I purchased this to weld 18650 cells to tab stock. I was only able to get good welds using 0.1mm tab stock with the weld current turned up all the way, with the maximum number of weld pulses, using the fixed weld head. I was not able to get any good welds with the included pen. It will suit my purposes and the price is right; my only concern is that there is no margin at the high end for weld current; I don't like that the machine only seems to work on its maximum setting, so three stars.

I have used 3 other Chinese models and they all have flaws, this one has had the fewest and is a decent spot welder for the money. So unless you plan on forking up another $1200 or more then stay with this $200 unit and you will not go wrong.

I usually don't do reviews however this product so exceeded my expectations that I felt I had to. Well designed, easy to use, very controllable welds with variable pulse selection and variable current. Comes with extra tips, fuse and a temperature controlled needle point solder iron. At the price you couldn't ask for more for light duty work.

I have used the unit alot now and it has worked out great, comes with everything you need to get started. The only thing is it has to be turned all the way up to get the best welds, but the spot welds are excellent, very tough.
