I bought this radio to have something to listen to when the power goes out which seems to go out anytime someone sneezes but I find myself using it much more than my AM/FM boom box because this radio picks up stations that my boom box won't. I like the fact it also has weather band so during bad weather I can listen for weather alerts. The sound is good and even better with the mega bass on, I use Koss KTX Pro headphones. The only reason I give it 4 stars and not 5 is that I am unable to pick up any TV stations. I do not know if it is because the TV broadcasts are now digital or if it is because the TV transmitters are around 35 miles from where I live. I use a HD outdoor TV antenna to watch TV as an indoor TV antenna will not pickup any TV signals. Over all I am very happy with this radio and it was a very good deal.Read full review

Sound quality is fine. What I don't like is that one can only pre-select five radio stations on the FM-1 band. I have to fumble around for the small 'band' button to get to preselected stations on the FM-2 band, something which is inconvenient while jogging. The old model was better because you could pre-program up to 30 stations on the same band. I need multiple station choices because the non-public radio stations in my city are besotted with commercials which I click off.

I really have enjoyed this great radio! I can't speak of a comparison of its later model 85 as I have not owned the later version. These radios are now well over 10 years old since Sony ceased production. I've had My model 80 for only a few months, and I have enjoyed it from the very first. Initially, I enjoyed its nice appearance. The armband fastens easily and securely due to its design of self circling the arm even before the velcro has been fastened. If You choose not to use the armband, its plastic mount easily unfastens to reveal a very functional belt clip. The belt clip is My personal preference of carrying the radio. Due to it's great ergonomic shape, it also very comfortably slides right into a pocket. This model has twice the battery capacity of the model 85 and I enjoy that. The controls are easy to remember and well placed for aesthetics and use, Most importantly of all, the radio simply has as great a reception of any small radio I've had. I have long been a believer in Sangeon radios and an admirer of their great engineering. The Sangeon DT=110 comes to mind which I have thought to be the best of the small pocket radios. I believe this little Sony 80 may be its equal. With the Sonys great base boost feature the sound is spectacular. These Sony armband radios seem to be in great supply within the used markets and are quite inexpensive. I don't think You would be disappointed in having one. It's My belief that if Sony brought these back, they would still sell very well. I was able to find a brand new one which was still in its original container, and feel very lucky to have been able to make that purchase. Remarkable that even after all these years this radio is still holding its own as one of the best out there. Hoping this review helps You out. Dave, Fairfax, VermontRead full review

Easy to use, the instructions are easy to find online (to avoid the blinking 12:00), sounds good, no complaints. Okay, one- I wish the volume control would "hold" (as the other controls hold with the switch). I'm prone to bumping the volume, lol.

This is a nice little radio for the used price of $15 plays and looks like new. Good reception outdoors for mowing my grass while listening to the Rush Limbaugh show in the afternoon. OK reception indoors, I took it to the gym where there is a lot of steel and glass and it was hit and miss on the AM band but thats the way all the portable AM's are, it's actually a bit better than most of them. I have been using the Maxell volume boosting headphones sold here on e-bay as well, and the combination is outstanding. Plenty of volume over the lawn mower.

This Sony SRF-M80V Walkman was purchased used from one of the best sales teams available. Not only does it easily perform beyond advertised ability,it even came with functional batteries. With a decent set of headphones, this unit sounds delightful and the "Bass Bost" really adds a lot of low end audio All around - a great unit; particularly for the price.

Old technology but I have used one for years when I garden. My old one finally died. This one is like brand new and works perfectly.

Buttons are small, which means you can hit the wrong channel Belt clip is rigid, making it tough to put on shorts or sweats. Good reception, clear channels, light weight. Worth purchasing.

There are a lot more bells and whistles on this than I need. Luckily, a PDF of the full product manual remains online. Like my previous Sony's reception is really good. Better than most of the small radios in current production. A great buy if if find one at a reasonable price.

You have to study to program the stations you want. You'd never want to be doing this while out walking or running. Too complicated. Also, it's a bit big, I mean I wish it were smaller in size to strap on your arm. But, it does work good. Note that signal can fade depending on the direction and distance of the station, but this isn't unusual for any radio.
