The fans in these things are ungodly loud. My furnace is on one side of the hall, the switches in a closet on the other side.. I can hear my switch over the furnace running. The items were pretty darn buggy until I got them onto the latest firmware. Telnet/HTTP would drop, they'd stop pinging, but would still pass traffic. Once on the latest firmware, they've been stable. I just had to find a serial cable to work with them and process the updates since telnet was so buggy. I was able to use two cisco serial to RJ-45 console cables connected with an RJ-45 coupler to connect to the switch and access the CLI. I'd say, as long as you can live with the noise and have some technical networking knowledge, these switches will work great for you.

Considering not long ago these cost upwards of 5 grand, these are a great value for a gigabit POE switch, plug and play, tough as nails,,,only down side these are not "bedroom" friendly as there are several 1RU fans in the side of this unit
