These are complex mechanical and electronic devices. In general Furbies are very entertaining in that they actually talk to one another and are happy little people. The baby unit has very loud gears that almost drown out the small voice that comes out. I tried to lubricate the gears by taking the unit all apart but was not successful in quieting down the mechanism. The other babies that we have have quieter gears. The larger one seems to have the the motion detector not working properly as it starts up but wants to go to sleep right away. So what I am saying is that if you buy these units sight unseen, make sure that they are tested and working properly or else they are not worth very much money. Most of the beauty in these toys is the ability to speak. Also some of these items can get very dirty and it is a chore to clean them. Consider that these guys are 15 years old and most likely handled abusively by small kids, who have thrown them to the floor. We got lucky with some of the Furbies that we purchased and not so lucky with others. Just make sure that they work properly; they are much fun if they do. I love her so much :) she's in fantastic condition, much better than I was expecting (excluding some slight sun damage to the eyelids but that's no big deal considering her age).
