Modified the factory stock for this to work, success.

I bought this to convert my Remington 700VS in 308w. I had to inlet my stock a good bit, but i took my time and removed small amounts of material very slowly, each time stopping to check the fit. I did not modify the trigger housing, just in case it didnt work out i could always relist it as "like new". If you look on YouTube you will see a few butcher-jobs where guys cut the "ears" off of the trigger housing, but this will cause the magazine to rock back and forth. DONT DO IT. Take your time with a dremel and removal the stock material only. Just make sure nothing is binding or your get the screws in a pinch or the magazine will be aggravating to remove. Take your time. Time wont cost you anything, but over-aggressive dremeling will ruin your stock and make for an ugly hack job. Good Luck-enjoy

They Lie About It Being A Drop In Piece / Get Ready To spend 4-5 hours installing it

They say this basically is a drop in. I am pretty good at installing things like this. Parts of the Mag Well had to be cut with a dremel tool. I was afraid to take too much off the Mag Well so I had to dremel out a lot of the stock. It didn't fit front to back or side to side. I started working on this at 3:30 pm and finished 8:15 pm. That's 4 hours an 45 minutes, non stop. The longer it took the more frustrating it got. I finally got it done and it works but I WOULD NEVER DO IT AGAIN for myself. If I did it for someone else, I would charge $400, if that tells you how hard it was. After I spent almost 5 hours on it, it works fine. Wouldn't do it again.

  • Nice upgrade without big price

The stock is of great quality. It is stout, ridged and the craftsmanship is great. Installed in minutes. Make sure you torque the action to the correct specs. The magazine well upgrade makes this a much better platform in my opinion. Easy in and out and reload for those long days at the range. Plus, the hinged floor plate is a pain with the glass up top and bipod legs if you roll that way. In the end, what you get is a solid chassis that will take on the roughest of conditions and come out just fine. Easy to clean, easy to add accessories with the M-Lok system, and makes a nice low end precision rifle a little better. Get some!

  • As always Magpul has created a high quality product.

Solid and well fitting add on accessory. I put this on because my rifle wasn't the model with a base plate. Therefore when just the stock was replaced there was no way to retain internal magazine. I was going to get the mag well eventually but I had to get it right away so that I had a functioning rifle. Installation was gravy. Great value have been wanting somebody to make an interchangeable mag setup for Rem 700's for a long time. Glad it was magpul. Now they just need to make 20 rnd mags and get the price down to reasonable levels like the Pmags.

  • Perfect upgrade

Installed on my 700 Sendero to replace the hinged floor plate. Wish I would have done this years ago. It took a couple hours to trim up my stock to accept the new magazine well, but it came out looking great. The next day at the range was perfect. Fit and function was flawless. I know these are made for newer stocks as a drop-in replacement, but with a little fitting it worked on my favorite target rifle that I picked up 25 years ago.

  • An excellent inexpensive option

It does exactly what it's designed to do- fit into a magpul chassis. It took a fair amount of fitting and modifications to use it on my Boyd's stock but the part functions perfectly and the AICS pmag functions flawlessly as well. The only issue I've had with it was while bedding the rifle I accidentally broke it, cracking it right at the front of the magwell while trying to extract it from the bedding compound. A large glob of the compound dripped into the magwell area and the leverage from my pulling on the trigger guard caused the crack. Over all this seems to be yet another great inexpensive magpul product and the magwell holds solidly despite my cracking it.

  • Magazine Remington 700's for the masses!

First let me say I did not use this as perscribbed. Magpul produces this item to be used with their Hunter stock. I releaved my factory stock for fitment and this unit works beautifully. As for the product itself, it has the usual high standard of quality you come to expect from magpul. Extra mags will run $30 to $40. Other than the release button pin and mag spring this item is completely mde from composite.

  • Works great with hunter stock

This works great with the hunter stock from magpul. I tried to make it fit with the hogue overmolded stock but it simply does not work. Some may say they got it but they would have ruined their stock to make it work. I luckily stopped before ruining the hogue stock completely. It feeds perfectly and fits exactly right. Would recommend for anyone looking to upgrade their 700 SA

  • Great upgrade for the Remington 700. It's worth getting the Hunter stock just to use this magwell conversion!

Great upgrade for the Remington 700. It's worth getting the Hunter stock just to use this magwell conversion! Comes with one Magpul 5-round magazine in .308/7.62, which looks better than the 10-round magazine because it doesn't stick out so much (they're single-stack magazines). Also fits Accuracy International pattern magazines, such as those made by MDT in calibers 308 and 223.

  • Perfact

I have a Rem. 700 SPS Tactical .308. This works great. I don't have the Magpul Hunter stock, I have the black Hogue over moulded stock and I did have to do some modifications to make it fit the stock. It was very simple. There are even videos on YouTube about how to do it. It's so much easier to load mags in this rifle when you have the scope rail on it instead of trying to top load. It also give the rifle a great look.
