This is great metal detector for the beginner. The digital display and controls make discriminating out undesirable metals easy to do. It gives different tones for different types of metals, and allows depth settings with the touch of a button. I bought this for beach combing on vacation. I found some coints, lead fishing weights, and a few bottle caps. I didn't strike it rich, but the metal detector worked as advertised. Its a great family activity. I bought this to kill time. I was not sure if I would like it or not, so I did not want to invest a whole lot. I have found the hobby very addicting, and this is a great starter detector. It is pretty well made, there is a lot of plastic. Once you can get the different tones down, you are treasure hunting.
