The only Roku Model with Dolby Audio over optical connection
Great option if you have an older A/V receiver without HDMI inputs and want to enjoy Dolby Digital sound from Netfilx, HBO, Starz, etc. This is in fact the only Roku model that has optical SPDIF output that you can use to connect to your older receiver. Despite being almost 4 years old it performs very well. Recommended.
This is the 4th Roku device I have purchased over the years and I am disappointed in it's performance/style. The unit is so small it is difficult to keep it stationary without using the sticky tape that I don't want to use as it is sitting on my TV stand that has glass shelves. I had no problem connecting my Roku version 2 to my 5G network but this new one only finds my 2G network. I attempted several network scans but it still only finds the 2G network. It also keeps freezing up on screens. I re-installed by version 2 Roku and am again connected to my 5G network with no issues. I bought the Premiere version to be able to access and stream 4K on my new LG TV. I guess I will continue to use the 2nd version for streaming, just not 4K.
Roku is cheaper than FireStick and just as easy to install and use. I prefer this platform because I can go live on any channel on my line up instead of just stream movies or paid streaming services. Unlike Roku, I connect with my cable subscriber info and get everything in one place. I bought it for an older TV and it instantly made it into a Smart TV.
Recommend it for the older tv's that does not connect to wifi and you might not have a cable service. It will not disappoint.
I discovered how go the Roku System was after I had already purchased a non-Roku TV. I wanted to have both TVs the same. The Roku Premiere was all that I needed. With their Website user access, you can program the Streamer just the way you want it and seconds later my viewing favorites pop up. This is exactly what I needed to balance everything out. Perfect.
Roku is simple to use and provides massive amounts of content. The streaming is seamless and the ability to view my content in 1080p makes for beautiful viewing. I also like that Roku provides access to all different types of content and many of the channels they offer are free - another great benefit. I would recommend Roku to anyone.
