My 6730b laptop display was getting dimmer and finally failed after 12 years of use. After searching and pricing a replacement ccfl backlight and inverter I found that this complete assembly was the cheaper option than replacing the individual parts. I was pleasantly surprised that the new display was the high-end 1680x1050 LP154WE2 display option offered by HP for the 6730b. My laptop was originally purchased with the mid-range 1280x800 LP154WX4 display in 2009. I am really enjoying the increased resolution of the replacement display.

Inexpensive, but still able to do most day to day tasks perfectly fine. I did spend a few extra dollars to upgrade the memory to 8GB. It is not absolutely necessary to do this if you are good at managing tasks carefully you can live with 4GB, but most every system nowadays should have at least 6Gb. I did run into a small problem after a few weeks. The heat pipe stopped working and did not consistently transfer heat away from the chip. The GOOD news is that parts for this model are easy to find and also cheap. I bought an unused replacement heatsink/heatpipe for $9. I suppose when you buy older computers this is the chance you take but it was an easy fix so I have no complaints.
