This knife is really a to me like a short machete. I have used it to clear small limbs and brush around my house It is well made and feels good in your hand. handle has good grip and blade is fairly thick and sharp. Have not used the small knife that comes with it. but it seems to be a capable small knife too. The sheath holds both knives and is good enough to keep both handy and in reach. This one is made in USA at Ka-bar in N.Y. But there is one of this same model made in China you can tell them apart by U.S. flag on blade of one and not the other.
