Load capacity is 13.23 pounds, and 360-degree panoramic rotation is provided.

Smoothest fluid video head on the market!
The 501HDV is the smoothest head you can buy for loads between 3 and 13 lbs. Separate pan and tilt locks and friction controls. Also has a counterbalance spring built in to prevent nose dives on extreme tilts. These are very smooth and very reliable heads. I have them on 7 of my 8 tripods. I've tried the 502, 500 and the 504 heads and the 501HDV blows them all away. No head has s smoother tilt friction control, just dial in exactly what you need. The problem, with the 502 and 504 heads is you need the friction control all the way tight and still there is not enough drag. I use the 501HDV with Manfrotto's lanc pan handle to pan, tilt and zoom all with one hand and at the same time. Also use the longer slide plates to give more room for balancing the camera (501PLONG and 504PLONG). I only wish you can still buy these new! If you find a good used one you can not go wrong!Read full review

I’m not a pro, nor am I using this head for video. But for the price, there’s nothing better - either for video tracking, or for use with a spotting/astro scope which is my intent.Super stable and smooth. Makes me wonder why they discontinued it and replaced it with something inferior.
