Everybody uses these. I can't look at a picture of a tactical spotting scope or HOG saddle that is not sitting on a Manfrotto ball head of some kind. I figured these things have to be amazing given their popularity and cost. This unit arrived and it is very clearly tough and thought out reasonably well. However, it is not nearly as smooth as the slick ball head it replaced and it is heavier. I do thing it is more robust however. The offset QD mounting bracket is a mystery to me as I cannot figure out why they did it. I know there's a good reason but at this point, all it does is throw the weight off center and make adjustments less predictable. Additionally, I do not get a solid locked in feel when the QD lever is fully engaged. I know it is locked in but it just doesn't have the fully set sensation when the lever is thrown. All that being said, based on its popularity and the fact that so many of the weapon mounts and tripod systems in my industry are designed to work with it, I will keep it and purchase more. But only for that reason. If I had control of my industry, I would have everyone in my industry switch to Slik ball heads.... MaybeRead full review

This is a very adaptable head, which took me years to find. Always working on a tripod, usually with the camera level for Architectural work, I was constantly adjusting knobs, at least one if not both for EVERY SHOT. This solved it, and it fits on all my tripods. Love this product so much I bought a second one for my backup.

Bought the product because its wery easy and quick to change my composition with the "pistol" grip on the 322rc2. The quality is excellent, built with magnesium and plastic alloy. And it holds my camera securely in place. With no concern that it will give inn or collapse, even with my bigger lenses and flash commander on the camera. It also has minimal "give" after composing at longer focal-lengths. So it seems to deal with weight wery well. It also has the option to tighten the grip on the ball head for higher loads. And the quick release plate has a safety pin on it. So an accidental release of the plate is highly unlikely. The entire ball head and grip is rather large, but its heigt isn't that tall. It alot smaller in height than other traditional pistolgrip ball heads. The quality overall seems to indicate that i will have this product for many years to come. I highly recomend this product for its easy and quick way to change compositions. And for its excellent build quality.Read full review
Very happy about this item. Finally I have full control for my camera on tripod. I have other ball heads, but this is much quicker and easy to set up. Good product. Highly recommend

It's one handed operation gives me the ease of shooting freehand with the stability of a camera stand or tripod and with the quick release I can go freehand when I want.
