tough little lightweight lens!
This lens is more durable than I gave it credit for! it fell out of my camera bag and took a 4 foot tumble to hard concrete-like floor. Inspecting the lens, I noticed that one the camera, the diaphragm would not close further past f/5.6. Convinced it was broken from the fall, I ordered another lens, and had the same "problem"! Further inspecting both lenses on the Nikon 1 J5, the diaphragm closes down to narrow apertures only as the picture is taken (never knew that!) then pops back open again, and the images on both lenses are equally sharp. Now, I can only image onto the small Nikon J5 sensor with this lens (it will have hard to adapt to other cameras due to its already short flange distance and (I think) power-assisted manual focus. But it survived the fall with no obvious problems. Tough little modern plasticy lens! This lens has done well for me in the past to do near-infrared imaging, however, the reflective coating causes a white spot to appear on the image at narrow f-stops. But because of its low wide-aperture maximum, it works fairly well for ultraviolet imaging, where long shutter speeds are necessary even in bright sunlight without extra UV lighting. Small lens (which may limits its optimum resolution) , but on a small camera, it is great for times when you do not want to lug a lot of heavy camera equipment all days (like at Disneyworld). I am not upset about having a second copy of this lens, just in case one day my disaster luck runs out!Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned

Little gem on Nikon 1 series
Funky little lens. Small and lightweight, but provides wide F1.8 and on Nikon 1 18.5mm is great for making blurry background portraits. Of course, being 1" sensor model, Nikon 1 series, it does not compete with APC-S or full frame, but if you want a small and cheap, lightweight lens to keep in your bag, I think an used Nikon 1 series small camera + this 18.5mm/F1.8 is great little combo to keep in your bag and be ready for daily street photography. Light weight powerhouse lens
First of all, this is a lens for a 1 inch sensor system. Still, this little lens performs above its weight. It also weighs practically nothing. Good in low light too.
