An advanced compact camera, the P7700 leaves creative choices in the hands of the photographer. Of course, it does have an automatic mode, but it also has aperture priority, shutter priority, and full manual modes. The EXPEED C2 image processor in the camera moves files to storage at a speed that is fast enough to allow an 8 frames per second continuous shooting speed, meaning photographers can capture the perfect shot in fast-changing scenes. Furthermore, in addition to capturing images in JPEG format, the Coolpix P7700 can shoot Raw, providing access to all the sensor data for complete digital darkroom control of images. All the features I wanted in a small package
I am a pro photographer, have been for over 38 years.I have always carried my "backup camera" with me on vacation, or for non paid events. I wanted something with great image quality, the ability to shoot in RAW, and the ability to use external flash units. This camera has all of these things and more. But for me, it is the small footprint that I like best. It fits in my jacket pocket and does not weigh me down. Good camera though clunky and not as easy to use as a CoolPix P7100
I had a previous Nikon Coolpix p7100, which broke. I thought the Coolpix P7700 would be an advanced and improved version. The Nikon Coolpix P7700 is clunkier to use with different software commands for navigating through the pictures for deleting and editing. When you turn off the camera, the lens does not self-retract into its own lens protective housing, so you need to have a lens cap, which I end up buying separately. This leads to a less ideal set up when taking pictures with a lens cap dangling on a string. Overall a good camera, though not as impressed with its ease of use or navigating it as a Coolpix P7100.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned

Compact, versatile camera with many "pro" type features.
This camera is compact, has very good resolution, easy to use, but gives a user the ability to do so much more than a point and shoot. Has features usually found on more expensive and much larger SLR cameras. (under and over exposure, surprisingly wide range zoom lens, close up capability, built in flash and much more) Large movable monitor screen in the back can rotate and pivot to enable the user to get close to the ground (for flower or small animal shots) without actually lying on the ground. This is a great compact camera. I had a previous one, reason why I bought this one. It is sturdy and last a long time if properly handled. Being able to manually control all picture parameters, with dedicated dials is a great feature for a compact digital camera

Even has a hot shoe for a dedicated speed light. Takes a while to learn all the settings. Only disappointment is no eye piece, but screen has multiple positions. And as with all digital cameras screen is difficult to view in bright sunlight.Verified purchase: Yes
