With any previously used, untested product, you are running a certain risk of it not functioning. But with things like RAM sticks, or processors (CPUs), the chances of it not working are rather low. More complex items, like motherboards or hard disk drives present a much greater risk. Installation is very straightforward: compatible with socket 1155 only. There are YouTube videos aplenty which teach you how to install a CPU into a given socket. This CPU replaced an Intel quad core i5. Basically a drop in replacement. The metal surface of the CPU showed signs of prior use, a bit of scuffing, nothing unusual. No dings, scratches or grooves on the heat spreader. The seller did a good job removing the TIM (thermal interface material). It was ready to go right out of the box. I put the Dell supplied HSF (heatsink & fan) back on and it booted right up. Works as it should.Read full review
