This tool is very easy to use. Just set it on any slanted surface and the dial will point to the degree of angle from180 degrees. I use this in my sewing room to find the angle of my shoulder. It helps me draw patterns with the correct angle in that area.

It does work, but if you use these for metal work (one side is magnetic) in a fabrication environment which for me is a home shop - the plastic wears easily and because there is a small recess formed in the plastic (see closeup 2nd image) when it wears on that edge the device starts to rock a little bit and thus loses the ability to produce an accurate angle reading. The first one I had lost its magnet (it's attached to a piece of metal somewhere in my shop and maybe I'll find it someday and be able to glue it back in) so I just bought 2 more to which I immediately applied CA glue to the magnet area. The digital angle finders give a much more accurate reading but aren't as convenient to use. If you can live with something that is within .5 degrees this will work fine for you till it loses its magnet .
