i like playing and solving the puzzles of the early tomb raider games so i thought i would give this one in the series a try. i like the better graphics, save game anytime and the new abilities that lara now such as climbing poles and swinging on ropes plus able to climb around corners. she also has new and different items to put in her inventory such as binoculars with zoom/night vision, laser sight, crossbow ect... plus new foes, vehicles to drive, with alot more pick ups that are just not laying around but in jars, boxes, trunks that you need to break in order to retrieve them. what i did not enjoy was the lack of the music which was so much apart of the first 3 games, i also didnt like the idea that you can not go back and play all of the completed levels, only 3 slots for different levels. so basically 2 levels and your save game level. you better save that level from the beginning of the level or you start from where you saved it from. in addition, its not too straight forward, no bread crums to follow. there is alot or returns to previous levels or go forward then return to a level and retrieve an item that you will need for later. with out a walk thru, (which also has errors in it) you might have a hard time with this game as i did which now defeats the joy of solving the puzzles on your own. this alone is the puzzle itself. play in the winter when you have lots of time to explore and find the "what" in what you need. i would recommend the first 3 games(which were completed without the walk thru)for the retro fun of it all and they were, with tr3 being the best but this one, tr4-tlr... well, i got to play it during the winter which gave me something to do or maybe it played me... i may try the 5th in the series "chronicles" for next winter but thats as far as my ps1 will go in this format. good luck!Read full review
Really good game that I never finished. We always used to just rent it and try to get as far as we could. The Tomb Raider games are a great example of how each installment gets better in every way than the previous one. I've always heard that Chronicles actually is the worst one but at least of the first four, you get improvements each time and the gameplay is always fresh. So glad to finally have this!

Well the graphics in this TR stepped up considerably. No more graphic glitches and Lara looks smoother and less blocky. She controls a tad bit better but pretty much the same (not PS2 standards). But we love Lara. This adventure was much more enjoyable because it had you in Egypt for the whole game. It really felt like a specific mission. She flips back, left, right and jumps foward while shooting. Lara sprints to make timed objectives. Basic Tomb Raider formula just looks better. I hated the ending. I'm pretty sure most of you have played through or heard the ending. I also didn't like how you had to run from or figure out how to escape most or all of the bosses(Lame). This game was a good standard TR. You could tell they'd perfected the TR formula by this installment.
It is an acceptable game based on its own merits, but, set against its own legacy, it is for all intents and purposes indistinguishable from those that have come before it.According to Egyptian legend, Horus, son of the light, outwitted the evil God Set and imprisoned him in a secret tomb. Five thousand years later, Lara Croft discovers the lost tomb and unwittingly unleashes the evil God Set, fulfilling the ancient prophecy of his return to plunge mankind into darkness! In a race against time, Lara must use all her wit and skill to reimprison Set and save the world from Armageddon. Pursued at every turn by her arch-rival, the unscrupulous archaeologist Werner Von Croy, Lara embarks on a journey of discovery across Egypt, where she must overcome the most ingenious puzzles and infernal traps ever devised, and face terrifying evil from beyond the grave. With more twists and turns than an Egyptian labyrinth, this is heart stopping action-adventure; a Tomb Raider that truly offers... The Last Revelation.Read full review
We lost our first copy of this in a house fire. The entire family loves Lara Croft and this was actually the first version we started with and we all love it. Yes, there is some violence, but it is NOTHING compared to what games show now.
