Good grater; would suggest that Microplane abandon plastic for grater frames.
This grater was purchased to replace a similar coarse grater (also Microplane) that had a PLASTIC FRAME. One of the first times I used the first one, the frame easily snapped. It remained 1/2 functional because of the stiffness of the blade, but would easily bend when grating Parmesan Cheese. The only reason to produce a grater with a plastic frame would be to sell more graters: cheap/easy to make. I spent about $12.99 for the first one and only about $3.00 more for the metal frame one. The blades are identical. The Professional Series is difficult to find either because Food Services buy them all or Microplane doesn't want to sell a product that will last.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Works well - just not really a coarse grate
I love this grater, however, the only reason I gave it 4 stars is because it is advertised as a course grater and it really is more of a fine grater. That being said, it works wonderfully if you want a finer grate. I wanted a course grate.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Sturdy construction
I have had many hand held graters including Microplane brand & other brands, they all had plastic handles. They lasted 2-3 years and the handles would crack & break.
