I read every review I could find on a Google search of "best reasonably priced high quality folding knives" and this knife kept coming up. I read some in detail and while some people who reviewed it were obviously obsessive knife collectors, they seemed very knowledgeable. They all seemed to rate this knife as being as good or better than more expensive knives that they have in their collection. My early experience with the knife seems to validate what I have read. They do say that the blade will dull a bit faster than higher end knives but that the blade is easy to sharpen while many high end knives have harder blades which makes them harder to sharpen when they dull--that is just what I am looking for because I carry the knife as part of the 10 essentials and only occasionally use it. The knife is easy to open and when locked the blade has no movement from side to side. It also has a nice seating snap just before the blade is almost completely closed that make it unlikely to open on its own. All in all, I am very happy with the knife.Read full review

This knife is okay. It is a value for the price, but nothing special. I am not giving it 3 stars because it is an entry level knife-- I did expect a little more from this and I am giving it three stars because even for the low price it was a little bit of a let down. For the most part the design and finish are nice. the quality of the product for the most part is above the price tag. The pocket clip with interchangeable position is a nice touch. But the clip itself is just painted black and the paint begins to rub off very quickly, making the knife look beat up within a matter of days. But my real gripe is in the opening mechanism. It does not open smoothly or easily. I am a bigger guy with stronger hands, and even I had to use extra thumb force to push the blade out. There is a small bearing built that keeps the blade locked in tightly when closed. but that also means it offers a bit too much resistance compared to the small thumb stud you are working with. And the compact size of the blade means the edge goes almost all the way down to the scales-- So combine that with a small thumb stud and a knife that needs force to open, and there is a high risk of slicing your thumb. As a result, i ditched this as my EDC knife, which is the reason I bought it to begin with. Could be a good little occasional use pocket knife for some folks. I see that OKC cares about the quality of their product, and this would not stop me from buying a different model of their knives. this one just wasn't a good fit for me.Read full review

I got this knife only after ready some reviews on how useful it was for its size. I liked the size for an office EDC. But don't let the size fool you as it is still very capable and sharp right out of the box. I like the options of tip up or down and right or left pocket carry that this knife offers. the feel in hand is great and opening and closing is very smooth and easy. The fit of the knife is also very well made especially for a knife at this price point. I was glad I made this purchase.

Starter knife for our 11yr old. Lightweight, easy but secure opening, easy close. Knife is well balanced, handle is east to grip and secure. Blade is sharp.

This is a quality EDC folder but it is so small I find it difficult to flip open. The RAT 1 is a big, robust knife that flips open easily. I could have bought 2 Chinese knives for the cost of thus one. This is a good knife but no bargain.
