If you’re on the fence about purchasing a direct drive smart trainer as I was you will probably be as happy as I am with the purchase. These direct drive smart trainers are not cheap, so I can understand being on the fence about the purchase, so I’ll share what ultimately helped me to make the decision to get one. As a side note I own two direct drive smart trainers so my daughter and I can train together. The first trainer I ever bought was a wheel on style and it is loud and the resistance just doesn’t feel natural. I hemmed and hawed over spending the money on a direct drive smart trainer but eventually took the plunge into getting one. The next question was which trainer to buy. My main considerations where price and where it is made. I was not going to buy a trainer made in China or Taiwan. I decided on either the Tacx Flux 2 (a Garmin product) which is made in the Netherlands or the Saris Cyclops which is made in the US. I searched through many websites prior to my first trainer purchase to find the right price. The first trainer I purchased was the Tacx Flux2 and I was pleased with the purchase. My daughter got on it and because I’m trying to find ways to spend time with her I decided indoor training was a good way to do that, so I bought this Cyclops 2, so I could compare the two different trainers. I am not competing for a podium spot, so based on riding both trainers I cannot even come close to hitting the max wattage on either of these trainers. I do like the way the hub sounds on the Cyclops trainer. It is louder and sounds similar to my wheel hubs on my carbon race wheels. The Tacx trainer has a quieter hub. Both trainers are very responsive on Rouvy and simulate the hills great for my needs. If you’re not concerned with where the product is made there are other options, but it was one of mine. If you’re on the fence and it won’t strap you financially I really doubt you’ll be disappointed. Read full review

I picked this brand over the others for price. Has all the bells and whistles I need. First of extremely amazed how quiet it is, and I thought my Jet Pro was quiet ( also made by Saris/Cycleops). The only thing I hear is my drivetrain. I got looked up to Zwift really easy. You will enjoy. I know I do.

The Saris H3 is easy to set up and connect to Zwift. It feels very realistic on simulated hills, headwinds, drafting on Zwift. It’s very quiet. I’m a 35-year cyclist/triathlete that doesn’t like to train indoors. The H3 has changed that and I’m getting more out of my winter sessions.

Definitely sturdy. Seems well built. I have used it with VeloReality and it works perfectly fine. I had reduced my choice to this Saris H3 or an Elite Direto and feel confident in choosing the Saris H3. I had considered the Wahoo which is highly rated, however having owned a Wahoo SNAP (which is now merely a bike stand) which suffered durability issues I again feel confident the Saris H3 was the best choice for me.

The H3 is worth it to me in sound reduction over the H2, I have both. The H3 had an odd creaking sound for the first 5ish hours of use. Looking on the forums I determined it was normal and sure enough it is now "broke in". It is silent now and the only noise comes from my bike.

Bought to use with Zwift. No issues. Easy to setup. Sync’d without issue. Smooth, relatively quiet. Totally satisfied. Comparison shopped the H3 vs Wahoo Kickr and I think the Saris is a better deal. Ride on!

The trainer feels extremely smooth, and responds very well to my Bluetooth. This is much better than a wheel on trainer, and is a great value compared to other direct drive trainers
