Wireless-N (802.11n) technology lets you connect devices to the unit without cables. Brother® International Compact MFC-J497DW Wireless InkJet All-In-One Color. When you need 1 device that can handle a variety of tasks, an all-in-one, such as the Brother International compact wireless printer, is the way to go.
Operating manual would have been helpful. Other than that, a great product.
It was easy to set up though a more detailed operating manual would have been helpful when it came time to print needing to change the paper size. I found a manual online and that is starting to help, but I have yet to figure out totally how to print on a 4"x6" card. I do think it is possible. I just have to figure it out.
I bought the printer specifically so that I could print CRC cards without having to go to the printer and turn the card over to print the second side. I already have a Brother printer where I can do that. You need to write a patch or send me a printer that can print two sides of an index cards.
After using Canon for many years their tech svc. went to H--- and they quit supporting the model I had. No parts available even for minor repairs. Local shop who is authorized agent for many brands said they had less trouble with Brother than any other brand. Also a close friend who uses Brother at his job and home said even with heavy usage he's had no trouble. It took a little getting used to (expected) and I am now a happy camper. Haven't tried printing photos yet, but they are a very small part of my use.
I have set up many printers in my life. This one was a snap. It stays connected to our WiFi, and prints easily from multiple devices. I have been using Brother printers for over 10 years now. The only thing I am curious about is the inkjet cartridges and their cost over time. I have had laser printers for years. Time will tell. I like the small size of this printer, as my home office is now a corner of the dining room - due to Covid restrictions - my husband took over our home office for his workspace.
Since I found Brother printers I have been a faithful user, my only problem with this one is that I cannot seem to connect it wirelessly, luckily for me it doesn't really matter .
The access is easy for any problems that may arise, but be aware that they only provide you with a "starter pack" of ink and so you will need to re-supply almost assoon as you get your printer.
