A "teen" version of X-Files?
Very engaging and well-written series. Unlike X-Files, the story line is ongoing rather than a different storyline each week (like X-Files was), thus maintaining a continuity of characters and plot. The twists and turns and unexpected reveals are what keep things at a heightened level. Special effects are, in some cases, mindboggling but effective--and rarely detract from the storyline. Not as Good as I Expected

Strange that it is so Good
Like most I loved the "retro" VHS packaging on this Blu-ray. But what was better was that the center piece that holds the disc was not that cheap plastic that always breaks, it was a felt-like disc, so no scratching of your discs either as you try to put them back. The only negative, like most have already said, was that you had to sit through the several minutes long preview and some other thing without the ability to skip past it. Believe me I tried all the options to no avail. Otherwise like everybody else, I am loving the series. The cliff hangers are really that--you almost always have to move on to the next episode---I see why people binge watch this, because you can't get away.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned

Reminds me of the "Harry Potter" film series on a TV budget.
I was amazed at the depth of the emotions I felt while watching it (I hated the predatory Romeo!). That led me to stop viewing it to regroup my feelings. The market dictates that these end up super cheap right now, and I got it to see if Netflix shows are of a high enough quality to subscribe. Well, it convinced me to subscribe! Stranger Things is so far an outstanding show. The VHS packaging is really cool, and the poster is cool enough, but not really my thing. Great Show, Clever Boxset Design
Great show!! The way they designed this set was very interesting and smart. Making it look like an old VHS tape is a throwback to the 80s, much like the show itself.
