We like the rack-mount Lexicon MPX 100 Dual Channel Effects Unit for its simple and non-distracting user interface. Few blinking lights, no digital display. It is two-channel, versatile and has excellent effects. Sadly, in our experience this model is not very reliable - our first one required multiple repairs, and finally died completely while our newly purchased used unit was shipping to us. We bought the second one as backup equipment for the studio, but it was immediately needed. (Thanks, eBay.) Our primary use is with a two-channel Volectar electric guitar.

I was originally just in the market for a new mixer for my system but didn't read it close enough to realize that I made what I thought was a mistake in thinking that I bought a mixer with effects built-in. Since I already paid for the mixer, I decided that I needed to get an effects processor that I could hook into the mixer and chose to get the lexicon MX100 effects processor. I am definitely glad that I did because the effects of the processor is by far superior to any of the built-in effects on any mixer board.
