A classic book on outdoor painting worth every dime.
This is a classic among art books and in particular Plein Air landscape painting. It's an expensive book but well worth the money. Edgar Payne was one of our truly great California Impressionist so his words and small sketches are like a tutorial. The book is in beautiful condition ( basically brand new) and the color plates are excellent .For anyone serious about Plein Air painting you need this book.

This book is highly sought after by artists of any generation. My copy is new a fourth printing of the seventh edition originally published in 1941. A must have book for any serious student of the visual arts. Mr. Payne writes with the knowledge and insight of an very educated professional even though he left home at 14 to pursue his passion for art. This wonderful book has a special place in my Art bookcase rightly next to "Hawthorne on Painting."
