Forgot I had these in the house. Heard a loud alarm going off, couldn't figure out what it was initially, finally traced it to a toilet in the bathroom, a small drip had developed from the water valve behind the toilet, it was detected using this item. You can check to see if is working by wetting your finger and placing it across both terminals, wipe them dry to stop the alarm.

I extended the alarm sensor cable (bell wire) about 10 feet so that the actual (sounding) alarm unit was on my first floor. My basement ceilings are insulated so this set-up the alarm can be heard clearly. I soldered the connections and used heat shrink to cover and seal the wire connections. The water sensor was located in the sump pit 3-4 inches above the "normal" water level. Tested this set-up and it works fine.

just insert a 9 volt battery and place the unit in area where water overflow can occur ( under sink/next to the water heater/washer) it will sound alarm in case of water overflow) please note this unit is not the type that you can check/ control via a smartphone. You will need to be at home to hear the high decibel alarm. A typical situation is malfunction of washing machine and not be aware of a water overflow.

Great product detects moisture and water when alarm goes off you can hear it upstairs with all the doors shut. You just sit on the floor or a long wire to put the censor anywhere. I have a fish tank this would alert me to a leak. Arrived pretty ordered from the USA

This alarm works great. I put it in the basement and put some longer wires on it so that the actual alarm could be upstairs. In addition, I added a couple of different sets of wires on a single unit as a branch circuit so it would alert us to water that might occur in more than one place. All it takes is for water too touch bare spots in the wires to sound the alarm. It actually saved us from two different potential catastrophes. One was a sewer backup during a heavy rain. The other was water that came thorough the foundation. I have had several of water alarms and this is the best value. It is relatively inexpensive, versatile, and reliable.
