This is a great new iPod, but it REALLY needs a button or a switch, as the older models had, that prevent accidental switching forward or backward. I use my iPod pretty much exclusively to listen to audiobooks, and the slightest nudge will send the book hurtling forward or backward. The old models had a switch on top so that it would lock the book in place, and you couldn't move it with a barge pole. With this one, every time I turn it off or on, it slips to another section of the book. Very frustrating, although otherwise it's a great device. Lots of room, and easy to use. But, boy, do I miss a hold button that actually HOLDS.
(Brand New)? Apple iPod nano 7th generation Silver 16GB
The seller gogo_gadgets advertised this item as new with a 90 day warranty from Apple. When I contacted Apple to try to register the device, I found out the warranty expired long ago. iTunes would not recognize this nano when connected to the PC. I returned it and bought a new one from WalMart and it works great, iTunes recognizes it and will sync music, etc. to it. If you want a nano, I suggest paying the extra from a retail source.
I love my new iPod Nano 7th Generation, though I have to learn a few tricks for fast-forwarding to the next song more easily while working out and unable to see the display properly (because I need my reading glasses). The sound and controls are far superior to my previous iPod Nano, 5th Generation, though I don't like the Apple headphones that came with the device and purchased a new pair that fit my ears better.
I give this product 4 stars instead of 5 because I did have to contact Apple Support and get transferred to a supervisor who was able to walk me through some technical issues: although this is a 7th Generation iPod with a genuine serial number, apparently this particular device is over six yeas old and not entirely compatible with iCloud technology. Songs must be downloaded on my desktop computer and hard-synced through a cable to the iPod. However, once downloaded, those songs transfer wirelessly to my iPad Air2, which was a pleasant surprise; unfortunately, I cannot download songs on my iPad and sync them to the iPod (wirelessly or with a cable) because the iPod is so old. But I can download music to my iPad Air2 and hard-sync them to my desktop computer, I believe. Then, I can hard-sync those downloads to the iPod--a little awkward, but I can make it work. Overall, I'm very happy with this purchase and hope that the device will last for quite a while. I hope this review is helpful....Read full review
This is my second Nano and I am frustrated by the same issue as with my last one. I had to replace my last one after two years because the battery suddenly stopped working at all. It only worked when plugged into a power source. The issue that is most frustrating is that often when putting the nano into a pocket after starting or restarting an audio book, an inadvertent touch of some sort returns the player to the start position of the chapter in progress. That is really frustrating. Given my lack of skill, tech-wise, I stuck with the Nano because of the ease of downloading audio books through my iTunes. Generally, it works pretty well.
The only problem I have with it is that I find it kind of not so easy to use. BUT. That is because I am technologically challenged. Kids could use it just fine. I am 68 years old so that puts me in a category that using stuff like this is difficult. But if I managed to figure it out, anybody can. Holds tons of songs; connects to car sound system really well; sounds great. Sure beats the shuffle as the charged battery seems to go forever.
