This windlass looks great but was a bear of an install (for me at least). Neither the included switch or breaker fit the standard holes for thier previous model of windlass (Simpson Lawrence), but the windlass body did. The breaker is too big, the switch is too small. You need to know that going in. If it's a fresh install, it won't matter you'll be cutting a hole to fit. By the way no templates included for switch covers. 2 bruised ribs and a scraped up midsection later, I ended up doing almost a complete re-wire and I didn't even do the included control box. Have some help when you do this install, and don't get stuck in the chain locker, you'll thank me later, promise. If you happen to be a boat manufacturer and read this review, please provide reasonable access to the chain locker besides the hatch, or failing that at least provide easy access to the bolts holding down the windlass! Jiminey Cricket, my ribs paid the price for bad design! By the way, the "fail-safe" switch is on the port aft side of the windlass. You'll see a red switch tab there. Look right above it. Slide that down and the red tab holds it down. if you don't you can't put this windlass down. It's mentioned in the manual but only by name no diagram. All in all not a bad windlass, just soured by the install difficulties.Read full review
