Runs hot under heavy load, as expected, otherwise stays below 90C. Will delid, apply liquid metal & a 100% copper IHS instead of the nickel plated where the specs are stamped in. Performance is great, actually about the same as the i7-4770 which shipped in my XPS 8700 PC. It's amazing at how fast the i7-3770 is & look forward it it doing the job for years to come. Has much everything one needs, can run virtual machines, do Photoshop, lots of options. This was a mainstream chip in it's day, unlike the next gen there would be no 'Refresh', among the top quad core Ivy Bridge chip candidates. Great upgrade from lesser rated Sandy Bridge CPU's (where the chipset allows) & most certainly an upgrade from all i3-i5 Ivy Bridge models.

This processor is fast, I bought it for my media server running Plex. The i7 3770 can have multiple 1080 streams going at once. So far I was able to get 5 streams going, and it was handling it like a champ. The Good: Fast Quad Core with 2 threads per core Does well with a stock cooler on stock clock speeds. The Bad: Honestly the only bad thing about this core is the price, but when it comes to computers you definitely get what you pay for, and in this case I am pretty happy with my purchase.

With four cores and eight threads, this CPU has plenty of horse power to keep up with today’s computing needs. I paired it with a GTX 1050ti for my son’s computer, and he plays all his games at 1080p perfectly. This CPU is very responsive in all tasks, I manually set the speed to run at 3.9ghz in the bios of his Z68 motherboard. For a six-year old CPU this thing still has plenty of sauce.

This breathed new life into my oldest gaming computer. The motherboard specs said the board could handle an I-7 at this speed so the upgrade was easy, fired right up, and ran great.

I am happy with it, if you have an older machine that you may use for modern gaming, the i7 3770 has enough power to deliver that for sure. I do gaming and video rendering, the i7 3770 does not struggle on any of this stuff. I have a CPU/RAM monitor on my keyboard, that i can see the CPU usage at all times. I hardly see it past 70%, even on CPU intensive games like GTA 5 in the online world, it does not max easily like my old i5 3470 did. I can agree this is a great processor, totally worth the $80 used. It has great potential for 2019 standards, it is nearly the performance of an i5 7600, but the i7 has hyper threading which helps with big loads. I noticed it does like to run a bit hot, around 80 degrees is the usual under high loads.

Very stable and fast CPU, my third machine running this processor, it's a work horse, couldn't ask for more except for the price to go down considering it is a bit dated.

This seems to be a good upgrade for the i3-3220T processor that I originally used for this particular build. With the i7-3770 I'm getting better than 2X the single-thread performance for python3 code, and the OEM cooler is still holding the core temps well within spec without making much noise. I rated "easy-to-install" question as a "no", NOT because of any issue with the processor itself, but due to the Intel OEM heatsink/fan assembly; the trashy plastic tool-less binding posts for the assembly are a real pain, and for the 2X higher heat dissipation of the i7, it's essential to be sure the heatsink is pulled down properly.

I've had this chip for a while now and it's performed fine. I upgraded from a 3570k for the hyperthreading and it's made a big difference in performance. I used to get a lot of stuttering in certain games like The Division but not anymore. Overall I'm happy with the purchase.
