First thing you notice with these headphones id that the stock velour pads are extremely comfortable! Even after hours of use there is no discomfort or sweat build-up like many leatherette pads. The sound stage is not as present as with open headphones or other High end closed headphones, the Mids and Treble are slightly recessed. It is still much better than many other headphones and still very good, just not as well presented as others. That is not why I bought them though... The headphones are major Bass department! Bass sits neatly in the cups and comes and kick you in the head when needed. Listening to Prodigy, Pendulum, Combichrist and others is a real joy. Isolation is also very good. Nothing like a pair of construction ear-muffs, but it really takes the impact off the outside outside, dulls it so you can better enjoy your music. Can also be driven off an MP3 player, but is much better off a dedicated amp or portable amp too boost them. Over I rate these at an 8/10 I would like to rate 10, but that would be too biased for lack of a sound stage. I do like a lot of bass, and these deliver. If you want a lot of bass, I highly recommend them. If you want better sound stage in Mid and High, look for something different perhaps. I own Audio Technica ATH-AD700, and Sennheiser HD 212 Pro (Blu-Tack Mod) So that is what I have to compare too.Read full review
I have heard and read that the 770 Pros are very comfortable and great for wide heads. I have been able to get use from them and although they are fairly comfortable, I would not recommend them to anyone who has a large, mainly wide head. They are too heavy, and just don't wear well when being used for hours on end.

These headphones are EXTREMELY comfortable. I can wear them for long periods of time, and sometimes I even forget to take them even though I'm not listening to anything. They have very good sound quality at the price they are, and there is a big sound stage. The 250 Ohms means it will be a little quieter than other headphones, but my Macbook Pro 2016 can drive them at a comfortable level at about 75% volume. (Run-of-the-mill consumer headphones are comfortable around 40-50% volume.)

I have a lot of headphones. Sennheiser HD-25, Sennheiser HD-280, Sony (4 types), Skull Candy, Apple, etc. I make electronic music with full ranges of sounds, including heavy basslines and kick drums type percussion. Semi-Open or open monitoring headphones just don't cut it to get a good mix. Sony and other brands often have a bass boost circuit that creates a bad mix by fooling you into thinking it sounds good. Presented here are the Beyerdynamic DT 770 phones. I bought the Pro-80 version. These headphones are amazingly comfortable. They have a bigger ear cup than most but it seals out external sound nicely. This is important to the final sound they produce. The velour fabric is quite nice feeling and even in a hot studio (with sweaty ears) it doesn't get to be like a wet blanket. The feel of the head strap is stable with a range of comfortable adjustment for small heads to big heads like mine. The cord is long and straight so it doesn't create tangles like other spiral types. But what about the sound you ask? These headphones are all about the sound. Previously I thought my HD-25's were the best. In some ways they do "move more air" if you are trying to weigh the balance between kick drums and basslines, but the full mix can be a bit overbearing. The DT-770's have a REALLY open and full presentation in the sealed cans. The whole range of sound is equally presented to me with bass being lower than in my HD-25 but still not absent. I feel these are the closest I have found to a good set of studio monitors (I use Mackie 824's). You can hear the whole picture of what you are doing and shouldn't find any surprises in listening on other sources after your mixdown. I live where I need to have quiet, headphone based, mixdown sessions. This means good headphones are a necessity. Try these out, I am sure you will agree that they are a top notch set of cans for a really decent price. Thomas White djthomaswhite (at) yahoo www.naturalrhythmmusic.comRead full review
