If you need something a little more than just a monopod, this is a great alternative. I can place my 70-200 on here with a 5D and its pretty solid to not tip over (use a sand bag anyway). But I have a Cullmann and that is super light weight. I tried using this for hiking and as a pod once I reach the end of the hike, and it was good, but it was heavy for the fact that I had it in my hand the entire time. The lighter Cullmann would serve that purpose better. But this weight gives you stability and thats important. SO depends on the usage! They should include at least a couple rubber bushings and the srew legs ALWAYS tend to get loose. So a few design improvements would make this an A BRAINER for that "on the fence" need. Its these little things MFG's can do, but most never end up doing to refine and make a product a sure deal, no NFU purchase.Read full review
