Beautifully made, powerful articulated flash unit that can go on the top of the camera or a lighting stand or on the table top, with an included shoe. If detached from the camera, it needs a wired or wireless connection to it. It comes with a variety of diffusers and color changers and a nice soft case. The SB-910 can be used in a variety of modes. If in manual mode, the output can be adjusted to a wide range of values. It can be made part of a network of compatible flash units. It runs on four AA batteries and a single set lasts for quite a few flashes. If you need a flash for your Nikon, you can't do better than this.

In my opinion, which doesn't count for much, Nikon produces a far better product and this Flash, the SB 910, albeit an older model flash, can hold it's own within the realm of all flashes. It packs a punch in power, fast recycle rate and a decent range of features to boot. I've been using a SB 910 for about 6 years while I was working as a Crime Scene Investigator. I retired recently and decided to purchase my own equipment. The SB 910 was the only flash I considered for the job. Extremely satisfied with my purchase.

Great light works perfectly for professional portraits in all lighting conditions. Great as a fill light as the ev compensation buttons are right on the flash for easy adjustment. This is no longer available on the replacement sb-500 model. Much quicker to adjust on the flash then to go through camera menus during a shoot. Solidly built and uses 4 AA batteries (new 500 flash only uses 2, which make me wonder about power output when needed as well as recycle times and how long it will last before you have to change batteries). Wish Nikon would keep this model as active inventory. There are too many older camera models out there that might not have the menus needed to drive the new flash. I don't think you should be forced to buy a D-5 or D500 to use current line of accessories.

Being retired and on a fixed income, the purchase of SB-910 came after much research. I am not a professional photographer, but I did want my portrait shots to, at least, resemble some sort of professionalism. The SB-910 is true to it's claim! It took the guess work out of speed light photography with it's true TTL technology. To really put it to the test, I took my camera out to our motor home which is stored in a closed shed. It is completely dark inside. I turned the flash unit and camera on. The lens I was using was a 18-55 3.5. I pointed the camera at complete darkness and depressed the release button half way. Within a second, the sensor on the SB-910 located the objects on the opposite wall of the motor home. The lens adjusted focus to what the flash sensed and I was able to take a great shot, perfectly exposed and in focus!! The portrait shots I have taken, both inside and outside, were exposed perfectly and with no annoying shadows! I gave it a four on the "value for money" only because the SB-910 is a bit on the expensive side for someone on a fixed income!Read full review
I have two of these flash units and although expensive they are worth the money. They have a high power output and the flash on my 600 camera can control both 910 flash units independently. Battery life is good and the unit recharges very quickly. The dispay on the back of the flash is poor and not easy to use.
