Installed this on an old Compaq C700 laptop 1.4GHz dual core with 2 GB RAM. Selected Desktop Experience during install in order to get a Windows-like user interface, and it looks very much like Windows 10. Wi-fi didn't work, possibly due to driver issue for old Atheros chip, but Ethernet worked fine for Internet access. Once online, the product activated ok. Updates took a long time, but that was expected. This was an experiment to see the difference in speed between Windows 10 and Windows Server 2016, and it looks like Server is faster with less bloatware. I was unfamiliar with Server before this install. In addition to the desktop, it has a monitor panel for storage spaces or other attached devices. I am not using this in the usual way on an actual server hardware, but instead wanted to see if an old device that probably couldn't support Windows 10 would work with Server. It does, but it's slow.Read full review
Windows Server has come a long way. This was easy to install, comes with a familiar interface of Windows 10 and known features like Active Directory and IIS and new updates by being more cloud friendly to services like Azure.
Even though this disc contains the installation for Datacenter edition, the license provided only installs for the Standard. I was surprised that the license was legit and activated without any trouble.
The foundation is the same as the Windows 10 Anniversary Update. Unfortunately, there is probably no hope of seeing some improved features and refinements in the Creators and Fall Creators Updates to be seen in the Server edition with a GUI.
This edition will still be supported by Microsoft and will be treated like a traditional product with patch Tuesday updates and proper bug fixes.Read full review
Excellent price, excellent product ( Microsoft does make good stuff ), and excellent service in getting sent to me.
Windows NT Server 2016 is a good product. All kinds of things about it that make it easy to install, and use. The Dashboard that comes up is really a good thing. The amount of space that the OS takes up on the hard drive is incredibly small. It is a file server and sometimes the files are large. If you are in the legal profession then video of incidents or depositions take up a lot of space. Save that space to be shared! Microsoft has the right idea.
Great OS, but oh the struggles of upgrading the domain with the newer OS. Installing the OS on a new server was very easy. Transferring FSMO roles could use better step-by-step guidance from Microsoft; third-party documentation does this very well, thank you! But, when something goes wrong (SYSVOL an NETLOGIN shares refuse to establish), one has to really dig to find solutions that should be coming from Microsoft!
I used this software to repair what I thought was an unfixable pc that got blue screen of death virus. But instead of paying hundreds for geek fixes or 1k for a new pc I bought this and went to my bios, installed it under cd/DVD boot drive and selected partition for the install and it worked. I have my old files still and the blue screen is gone. If you know a little about computers buy this and keep the rest of your money.
