The knife is of solid construction well balanced and heavy duty. The sheath is historically accurate and very well made. Problem one however is the brass swivel rivet on the sheath. It rubs the handle badly. I had to construction a leather washer to put over it and glue it down to stop the problem. Problem two is that it is not very sharp. It has what is called an apple seed edge geometry which makes it not very sharp and difficult to correct. Cold Steel is known for being extra sharp but they failed considerably with this knife. Other than those two problems the knife is exceptional in all other areas.

The detail in craftsmanship is very good, however I put some tape over a sheath rivet so that the brass guard does not get scratched when inserting the knife into the sheath. Also, the sheath is of a very good construction and the brass attachments give it a nice period rendition.

My husband is a knife fanatic and he picked this out for his valentine's day gift and he absolutely loves it! He says it's a solid knife, made very well. He sits with it in his lap while he watches TV!
