A great upgrade for an older socket 1155 motherboard.
Going from an I3 dual core to i7 quad core and from 8 to 16gb of RAM made my old asus desktop feel like a new computer. I was able to use the original CPU cooler but I turned off the mobo turboboost because the cpu ran just a little too hot at 100% load. A computer is such a bad investment with speeds getting faster every 6 months to a year, so upgrading an older PC is a real bargain. I do audio and basic video editing plus all of the normal interweb stuff and this CPU will now add a few more years of life to it. The Intel I7-2600 isn't the fastest older CPU that I could get, but seemed to best value of speed vs price of a used cpu. I chose it because it is difficult to overclock, so chances are the used CPU wasn't abused.
Cpu came clean and packaged properly. Install was easy and it worked with no issues. Fair price for an old processor and seems to not have been abused in any way. I upgraded from an i3-2120 in an old HP Pavilion desktop as a cheap and simple upgrade to get more performance out of my computer. I am getting an ssd and an RX 570 (upgrade from HD 7870) to round out the build and take full advantage of this cpu.
Took only a few mins to install the cpu in my dell 990.Cleaning the old thermo paste off the fan. unlocking old cpu and cleaning the new cpu took mins. firing up the system checking the bio and then into windows. I had to reboot once to show the new cpu, but that is to be expected . Rock solid cpu for my needs. The system is about 25% faster now.
Nice bump in CPU performance for le$$ than RAM increase.
Sometimes you can get a reasonably inexpensive increase in operating speed by upgrading your processor. This is one of those cases. Simple hand-tools and thermal conductive paste and you're good to go.
It works perfectly fine, and it is exactly as advertised. It was easy to install, though I have significant experience. It was also shipped in a timely manner.
